HERB Thyme - Orange Scented 9cm
(Thymus fragrantissimus). Tiny pink blossoms from May-August. Can be used for cooking. Good for Pot-Pourri. Plant in very well-drained, moist soil in full sun. Trim after flowering. Height - 30cm (12in).
HERB Welsh Onion 9cm
(Alium fistulosum). Forms a clump of slender elongated bulbs with long green stalks similar to chives. It's a type of bunching onion although it is usually grown as a winter hardy annual. The flavoursome leaves and small bulbs can be used as an alternative to chives in potato salads, soups and omelettes.
HERB Wormwood 9cm
(Artemisia absinthium). A frost hardy perennial with tiny yellow flowers in summer. Attractive silver/green aromatic foliage. The leaves and flowers are very bitter. Important medicinal plant. Height - 1m (40in). Will grow in most very well-drained soils, in a sunny position.
HERB Coriander - Vietnamese 9cm
(Persicaria odorata). A spreading perennial with small creamy flowers, having a mild 'coriander' flavour with a kick of lemon. Add to soups or stir frys at the end of cooking. Ideal for growing in a container to bring indoors over winter. Height - 30cm (12in). Prefers a partially shady position and moist, well-drained, fertile soil.
HERB Mint - After Eight 9cm
Dark green leaves with dark veins. Dense clusters of mauve-pink flowers from June to August. Can be grown in pots. The extra strong peppermint flavour has a hint of chocolate. Add to puddings, Summer drinks and tea. Prefers sun or part-shade in moist, fertile, well-drained soil. Height - 60cm (2ft).

(Mentha requienii). The smallest of the mints, forms a low carpet of tiny bright green leaves with minute purple flowers. Very strong pepermint scent. Excellent ground cover plant for damp shade. Leaves can be used sparingly in salads. Prefers sun or part-shade in a fertile, moist but well-drained soil.
